this isn’t the story
you think it is

Faith, family, and a bunch of dogs.

Author of Beyond the Velvet Ropes

These days I’m happiest in the small stuff — my kids, my husband, a houseful of rescue animals, my faith, and finding ways to give back. I had a wild, wonderful run in my twenties, and I’m grateful for all of it — but it’s not the headline. The headline is the life I get to wake up to now — and the book I wrote about getting here.

Beyond the Velvet Ropes

My Story of Perseverance, Hope, and Love

From the outside, my twenties looked like the dream — covers, cameras, a life behind the velvet ropes. But the real story was never the part people saw. It’s in the moments I never talked about, and the long road back to the ordinary, happy life I have now. I wrote all of it down — the hard, the funny, and the faith that carried me through. If you’ve ever come through something and made it to the other side, I wrote this for you.

The Story

The long way to an ordinary, beautiful life.

I grew up in a small Ohio town being told what I couldn’t do — and I spent my twenties proving otherwise, in rooms most people never get to see. I’m grateful for every bit of it.

I also walked through some genuinely hard things to get here. I stopped hiding them, and I learned that the hard chapters can become something you give back — but they’re not the headline. The headline is the life I get to wake up to now.

“You didn’t need rescuing. You needed time. Time to find your voice. Time to believe it mattered.”

Meet Jen

Beautiful, a little bit of trouble, and not done yet.

Let’s be honest — I’ve never minded the camera. Magazine covers, red carpets, and still sweating it out in the gym at 50. I love getting dressed up, I love a good laugh, and I love my rescue dogs almost as much as my kids. Faith, family, and fun — all at once. The smile is real, and so is the rest of me.

Beyond the Ropes

Everyone belongs beyond the ropes.

A velvet rope decides who gets in and who stays out. This is the opposite of that — a quiet practice of choosing the overlooked, and reminding each other that no one’s story is over.

Short, honest writing on faith, family, healing, and starting over.

Faith

It is in the waiting that we become who we’re meant to be.
