At 18, I faced a terrifying moment when my plane had to make a foam emergency landing. This experience could have kept me on the ground forever. Shortly after, I found myself in a job that required me to fly up to four times a week. Despite feeling terrified each flight, I had no choice but to face it head-on. Realizing I needed to conquer this fear,I enrolled in Pilot School. Although I didn’t pursue a pilot’s license, my studies in the mechanics of planes provided me the understanding and confidence I needed to conquer my fear. “Every time we face our fears, we reclaim a piece of our freedom.” -Jennifer Archuleta
